TouchArcade Game of the Week: 'Evoland'
Added: 07.02.2015 23:10 | 4 views | 0 comments
TouchArcade: Arriving on Monday, Evoland [$4.99] popped up on the App Store a bit earlier than other new games this week, and in fact its history goes all the way back to the Ludem Dare #24 competition in 2012. The original product of that game jam, now called Evoland Classic, aimed to take a trip through the history of RPGs. After winning Ludem Dare #24 and proving quite popular among gamers, a more fleshed-out version of Evoland was created and released on desktop in April of 2013, and that's basically the version we can now enjoy on iOS as of this week.

USgamer:"We hear, again and again, that with tools like Unity and the App Store that it's never been easier to make a quick buck cranking out some games. At its peak, Candy Crush was raking in well over a million dollars every day. Flappy Bird, Five Nights at Freddy'sthese games dominate news stories and make their creators huge lumps of cash, but they are exceptionally rare rags-to-riches success stories. The real stories of independent developers that want to keep making games is much grimmer."

TouchArcade: Shiro Games' Evoland [$4.99] has finally made its way to iOS, sneaking on to the App Store on Monday night. This game is an homage to the history of RPG gaming, as you start out in a pixelly, monochrome world, and eventually evolve into a full 3D world. The game even mixes in a number of combat styles, as you fight in top-down Zelda style, as well as turn-based Final Fantasy style. You'll spy a number of homages to classic RPGs all over the place while progressing through the story, so if that sort of thing is candy to you, you'll want to check this out.

| The 8 best Western RPGs for people who don't like Western RPGs

AppSpy: For as long as I can remember, my favourite genre has been the RPG. At best you get a rich novel-length plot full of interesting characters, an action or tactical combat system, and a gorgeous fantasy world to explore at your leisure.
The best part - you get to create a custom version of yourself and live out a full fantasy life within a videogame. Isn't that what games are for?
It turns out that a few people don't actually like RPGs. Though puzzled at first, I eventually came to the conclusion that these sorts have three main RPG turn-offs: the length, complicated statistical systems, and a too much to see and do mentality.
With these key reasons in mind I browsed the App Store RPG offerings to bring you this list of eight RPGs for people who don't like them.

The Witcher Battle Arena is faster and simpler than other MOBAs on iOS, and all the better for it. It's not the most complex battle arena game you'll play, but it's far better suited to mobile than its App Store peers.
